15 Lakes in the Fann Mountains
This easy trek in the most beautiful part of the Pamir-Alai mountain system, between the Hissar and Zeravshan Ranges, will enable you to see the inimitably beautiful Marguzor Lakes and legendary Fann Mountains, the world of dizzy 5,000-metre peaks and fantastic turquoise lakes. You will walk mountain paths, cross high mountain passes, visit exotic villages lost amid mountains and admire breathtaking mountain landscapes. In the end of the tour you will have an excursion of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Be sure to come! You will be blown away by a surge of indelible impressions and positive emotions and the hospitality of the Tajik people! The tour does not require special skills and physical training and is suitable for a family holiday.
BRIEF PROGRAM OF THE TOUR
|Day 1||Meeting in Dushanbe. Transfer to the seven (Marguzor) lakes. Camping in tents near Lake Khazor-Chashma.|
|Day 2||Trekking Lake Khazor-Chashma – Tavasang Pass – Sarymat River.|
|Day 3||Trekking Sarymat River – Amshut River – Gazza village – Guytan village.|
|Day 4||Trekking Guytan village – Guytan Pass – Chukurak Lake.|
|Day 5||Trekking Chukurak Lake – Chukurak Pass – Lake Dushakha.|
|Day 6||Trekking Lake Dushakha – Alaudin Pass – Alaudin Lakes.|
|Day 7||Return trip to Lake Moutniy.|
|Day 8||Descend to Base Camp Vertikal. Hotel. Excursion in the evening.|
|Day 9||Breakfast. Transfer to airport. Departure.|
|Day 1||Meeting at the airport in Dushanbe.
Transfer from Dushanbe to Lake Marguzor, the sixth of the seven lakes. Today’s journey will feature wonderful views along the Zeravshan River valley and the Marguzor Lakes. (270 km, ~ 4-4.5 hours).
Trekking from the sixth lake to the seventh lake, Khazor-Chashma (4 km, 30-40 minutes).
Camping in tents on the shore of Lake Khazor-Chashma (2,400 m above sea level).
|Day 2||Trekking from Lake Khazor-Chashma across the Tavasang Pass (3,307 m a.s.l.) to the Sarymat River (17 km, ~ 6-7 hours, +907 m, –1,117 m).
On a good easy path you will ascend the pass, from where you will enjoy a panorama of Marguzor Lakes.
Descent into a beautiful canyon with the Sarymat River on the bottom.
Camping in tents on the bank of the river (2,190 m).
|Day 3||Trekking Sarymat River – Amshut River – Gazza village – Guytan village (20 km, ~ 6-7 hours, –620 m, +300 m).
The path gradually turns into an unpaved road along the Amshut River. On the slopes you will see a few mountain villages and more vegetation on the whole.
At the end of the day you will have a gentle ascent to the village of Guytan.
Overnight in a traditional house (1,870 m).
|Day 4||Trekking Guytan village – Guytan Pass (2,640 m) – Chukurak Lake (12 km, 5-6 hours, +1,040 m, –200 m).
Camping on the lakeshore.
In the afternoon you can opt for an additional short return trip to Lake Ziyorat (4 km, ± 380 m).
Overnight in tents on the shore of Lake Chukurak (2,440 m).
|Day 5||Trekking Chukurak Lake – Chukurak Pass – Lake Dushakha (9 km, 4-4.5 hours, +720 m, –160 m).
During the day you will enjoy a breathtaking panorama including the majestic Kulikalon Wall and the neighbouring peaks over 4,000 m high (Adamtash, Mirali, Rudaki and others).
The path runs across the Kulikalon depression, meandering amid a most picturesque juniper forest and past numerous lakes (14 in total) with clearest turquoise-blue water. The lakes are inhabited by fish.
Camping on the shore of Lake Dushakha (3,000 m).
|Day 6||Trekking Lake Dushakha – Alaudin Pass (3,860 m) – Alaudin Lakes.
During the long ascent the panorama of the Kulikalon Wall and Kulikalon Lakes will please your eyes. From the Alaudin pass saddle you will obtain an impressive view of Chapdara Peak (5,197 m) and the Chapdara river valley. You will clearly see the bowls of fantastically beautiful Alaudin Lakes far below, their water colour ranging from light blue to deep ultramarine (7 km, 4-5 hours, +860 m, –1,060).
Camping in tents on the lake shore (2,800 m).
|Day 7||A return walk to Lake Moutniy (8 km, 5-6 hours, ±800 m).
Trekking along a rocky path to Lake Moutniy (3,600 m). During the trip you will enjoy a wonderful view of Kaznok (4,200 m), Zamok (‘Castle’) (5,070 m), Energiya (5,120 m) and Chimtarga (5,489 m) Peaks. The stern nature of the alpine zone – pendent glaciers and steep moraines. On your way you will come across occasional birch trees, a little lake named Piala (‘Bowl’) for of its shape, the giant steps of a retreating glacier and polished rocks. With eagles flying in circles high in the sky.
Return to the camp along the same path. Camping on the shore of Alaudin (2,800 m).
|Day 8||Descent to Base Camp Vertikal (2 km, 30 min, –135 m).
Transfer from the camp Vertikal to Dushanbe (150 km, 4-4.5 km).
Accommodation at 3-star hotel.
Evening excursion to Dushanbe: State Museum of History, Somoni Square.
|Day 9||Breakfast at hotel.
Transfer to airport. Departure.
