The itinerary: Bishkek - Batken - Uzgarish - Ak-Su Wall - Uryam Pass - Layli–Mazar Valley - Sabakh Pass - Uzgarish - Batken - Bishkek - Issyk-Kul Lake - Bishkek
Non-complicated trekking program runs in one of the most beautiful regions of Pamir-Alay, the region of the famous Aksu Peak. Sheer vertical kilometer-long rocky walls, vast snow-covered glaciers, crystal clear emerald-green rivers, ever-blue sun-lit skies, numerous well-trodden paths combined with virginity of landscapes – all these make the region very attractive for tourists and mountaineers alike.
The trek gives an opportunity to feel the nature, enjoy the views of wonderful mountain peaks and valleys drawn in juniper forests, test traditional hospitality of Kyrgyz shepherds sharing with them a cup of Kyrgyz tea or "Kymyz" (fermented mare’s milk) in the yurt.
The best time for trekking: July, August, the beginning of September.
BRIEF PROGRAM OF THE TOUR
|Day 1||Arrival in Bishkek. Hotel. Excursion in Bishkek.|
|Day 2||Transfer to Manas airport. Batken. Drive to a small village Uzgarish.|
|Day 3||Trek along of Ak-Mechet River till the confluence of Ak-Su and Kara-Su.|
|Day 4||Daily round walk to Ak-Su wall. Back to Camp.|
|Day 5||Over the Uryam Pass to the Uryam river valley.|
|Day 6||Free day. Optional daily round trip up the Uryam river valley.|
|Day 7||Descend to the Layli – Mazar valley.|
|Day 8||Ascend along the Sabakh river valley.|
|Day 9||Daily round trip towards the Sabakh Pass.|
|Day 10||Descend along the Layli – Mazar river valley to Uzgarish settlement.|
|Day 11||Drive to Batken. Walking in Batkent. Night in guest house.|
|Day 12||Flight to Bishkek. Transfer to South shore of Issyk-Kul lake.|
|Day 13||Rest on the lake, swimming. The excursion to “Skazka” gorge is possible.|
|Day 14||After breakfast swimming, rest on the shore. After lunch transfer to Bishkek.|
|Day 15||Transfer to airport and departure.|
|Day 1||Arrival in Manas airport (Bishkek), transfer to Bishkek. Hotel. Excursion in Bishkek.|
Transfer to Manas airport. Organizing of border permits.
After lunch drive to a small village Uzgarish (120 km, 3 hrs).
Night in tents on the bank of Ak-Mechet river.
Trek along of Ak-Mechet River till the confluence of Ak-Su (White Water) and Kara-Su (Black Water) rivers (6hrs; 10km; +1300 m).
We walk upstream Akmechet river to its junction with Kara-Su. The impressive canyon gradually gives way to a wide valley covered in juniper trees and alpine meadows. We camp on the grassy glade with views of two grandiose peaks over 5000m-high -Aksu Peak and Iskander Peak.
Camp (2800 m).
Daily round walk to Ak-Su wall (+/- 600m). Back to Camp.
We ascend in zigzag through juniper woods along the river. The path gets steeper as we reach the ragged moraine of the glacier. We are in the circus of the Aksu peak (5,355m). This pyramid-shaped snow-clad peak has the abrupt north face of two kilometers long. The grandiose circ is stunningly decorated by two-headed Iskander Peak neighboured by Blok Peak, Petrogradetz. On the way we visit shepherds’ yurts and get a concept of their way of life.
Over the Uryam Pass (3760 m) to the Uryam river valley (7 km; 5hrs, +/- 600 m).
Ascend begins from the river confluence and goes up through conifer woods. We get a panoramic view of the summit bearing romantic name "Parus" (Sail) and whole Uryam river valley.
Camp at 3100 m on the river bank.
Free day. Optional daily round trip up the Uryam river valley (10km; 6h; +/-400m).
The whole day has been reserved for relaxation, or washing up, or reading or simply chatting with other group members and/or accompanying staff. Those more ambitious ones may opt for taking an exciting opportunity of exploratory walking to the upper reaches of Uryam river for stunning panoramas. We aim at the Uryam glacier.
Descend to the Layli – Mazar valley (9 km; 6hrs; - 1000m).
We descend along a good trail running down on the vast slopes carpeted in low alpine grass and delicate wildflowers. Then the landscape gives way to thick juniper woods. From the height we enjoy the beauty of a huge rocky canyon.
Camp at 2000m.
Ascend along the Sabakh river valley (6km; 5h; +700m.).
We ascend trough the picturesque valley of Laylak-Mazar river and enjoy remarkable scenery.
Camp at 2700 m.
Daily round trip towards the Sabakh Pass (9km; 6hrs; +/-600 m).
A good path leads us up valley to the small moraine of the glacier from where fantastic views open to the walls of the magnificent Sabakh peak (5282m).
PM back to camp 2700 m.
|Day 10||Descend along the Layli – Mazar river valley to Uzgarish settlement (15km; 7hrs; - 1000m). Camp at 1700 m. As we get closer to the villages, we pass through fields and orchards boasting a good variety of almond, pistachio, apricot and walnut trees. For the last night in the mountains we camp at the yard of a traditional Kyrgyz family house.|
Drive to Batken (120 km; 3 hrs). Walking in Batkent.
Night in guest house.
Flight to Bishkek.
Transfer to South shore of Issyk-Kul lake (350 km, 6 hrs). On the way – lunch in cafe in Boom. Accommodation in yurt camp. Swimming in the lake.
Rest on the lake, swimming.
The excursion to “Skazka” gorge is possible, where you can see different colored mountains.
After breakfast swimming, rest on the shore. Lunch.
After lunch transfer to Bishkek, on the way – visit Buran tower, saved minaret of ancient Balasagun city (X-XI cc).
Accommodation in hotel in Bishkek. Farewell dinner in cafe.

Terms of the program:
The itinerary doesn’t have the sporting category of difficulty; it is available for all tourists, having good physical condition. The weather is usually stable, warm, sunny during trekking, but it’s possible some precipitation and wind. Day temperature, depending on altitude is from 10oC up to 30oC. Daily walking is 10-15 km, maximum of altitude ~1000 m, maximum height is 4140 m.a.s.l. Tourists’ things are being carrying by pack animals (no more than 12 kg/person) during the trekking. Mountain guide and cook escort the group. Age limits – 18. Children (from 15) can participate in trekking accompanied by parents.
Mountain guide is a leadership of a group and a company plenipotentiary on the itinerary. The guide has a right to change a “string” of the itinerary in connection with weather or other conditions, threatening tourists’ safety.
Group’s assembly: tourists should come to the point of tour beginning on the day of program beginning (at the worst – till 8:00 on the second day). Tourist should make an additional payment in case of early check-in /late check-out (before the date of tour beginning/finishing). "Asia Adventures" will help you to book hotel for this time, meet in airport and offer an additional program. In any case you will be taken by our care and support.
”Asia Adventures” provides the following equipment for trekking: 2-3-seater tents, equipment for food intake and preparing, first-aid set. Every participant should have: rucksack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, warm clothes, comfortable footwear for trekking, running shoes, water- and windproof overcoats, flashlight, protection cream, sun glasses, head-dress (panama, cap, and little cap).
Documents: it’s necessary to have a foreign passport with the date of expiry no less than 3 months on the date of tour finishing and medical insurance.
