Ski tours in Uzbekistan
Route: Tashkent - Chimgan - Samarkand - Tashkent
Uzbekistan is one of the most popular centers for speed tourism in Central Asia.
In the mountains of Uzbekistan, there are two world-class resort hotels: Amirsoy and Beldersoy.
Uzbekistan's skiing "signatures" are relatively low prices, warm and comfortable skiing, stable sunny weather, exotic and oriental atmosphere, proximity to the world-famous ancient cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, and excellent off-piste skiing opportunities.
Uzbekistan was once one of the best destinations for heli-skiing, but unfortunately, the fleet of MI-8MTV helicopters is outdated, and new helicopter heli-skiing tours are not yet available in Uzbekistan.
However, in recent years, ski tours have become increasingly popular, both in the Chimgan ski resort area and in new locations such as the Hissar Mountains in the Kashkadarya region.
Skiing in Uzbekistan differs from other regions of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan) in its comfort, relatively low avalanche risk, wider slopes, and better value for money.
The best time for skiing in Uzbekistan is January–February.
Participants should bring avalanche protection kit (beepers, shovels, probes) and ABS, which can be rented from ASIA ADVENTURES (kit - $40, ABS - $100).
