Being engaged in tourist activities, our company interacts with several travel agencies, hotels, transport companies, guides, restaurants, and historical monuments' administration.
The staff of Asia Adventures understands the importance of sustainability in tourism; therefore, we have developed five basic rules that we follow ourselves and that we ask our partners to follow.
The staff of Asia Adventures understands the importance of sustainability in tourism; therefore, we have developed five basic rules that we follow ourselves and that we ask our partners to follow.
- Comply with all relevant legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and integrate sustainable development principles into our core business practices.
- Preserve the nature and biodiversity of our country and continually enhance our environmental performance.
- Maximize our social impact to support local livelihoods and prevent tourism leakages.
- Offer information, training, and support to colleagues and external partners to engage them in sustainability efforts.
- Use our position to promote sustainability within our destinations and encourage clients to choose eco-friendly travel options.
In our office:
- We measure our use of natural resources, especially energy and look for ways to reduce their consumption. In our office building, we have implemented a “switch-off” policy and purchased energy-efficient lights and equipment.
- We implement practises to reduce, reuse and responsibly manage waste, including single-use plastic. For example, we successfully implemented a “no-print” policy and refused to print unnecessary documents and promotional materials.
- We participate in environmental clean-up activities and try to spread such an example on social networks.
- All our employees enjoy the freedom of employment and fair labor conditions in line with national labour laws.
- We share best practices and raise awareness on sustainability among our teams and partners.
- We maintain an open dialogue at tourism exhibitions and forums and participate in training seminars to stay updated on the latest developments in tourism.
During our tours:
- We prefer to work with locally owned businesses reflecting local cultures (hotels, restaurants, handicraft outlets and arts). On the routes, we include visits to local communities for traditional master classes, to get acquainted with the life of ordinary people. We have also bought 1,200 handmade skullcaps from local women handicraft makers in Surkhandarya and Fergana provinces, distributing them to tourists as gifts.
- We do not invite partners and clients to participate in activities that harm humanity, fauna, and flora, contribute to air and river pollution, or are socially unacceptable. We inform all travellers about the rules of conduct in the country by distributing memos and providing clear recommendations and advice.
- We do not allow the purchase of souvenirs containing threatened flora and fauna species, any illegally obtained historic/archaeological artefacts, drugs or illegal substances, and abide by local and international laws in place to prevent this.
- We give back to neighbouring communities by supporting projects addressing local development challenges and encouraging fair employment opportunities. All of our local guides are granted a transparent contract and fair pay.
- We have eliminated single-use plastic bottles on tours and started refilling reusable bottles. We also collaborated with accommodation providers to eliminate single-use bottles and switch to water dispensers.
- We replaced individual plastic trash bags with a shared bin system for travellers.
- Our outdated vehicles were sold and four new fuel-efficient vehicles were purchased instead.
- We ensure that the travels we organize do not have adverse effects on the environment or society, especially sensitive activities that may bring travellers into contact with animals, children or remote communities.
- Excursions and attractions in which captive wildlife is held are not offered, except for activities that are properly regulated and are in compliance with local, national, and international laws. Excursions that include interactions with wildlife, comply with relevant codes of conduct.
- Wildlife species are not harvested, consumed, displayed, sold, or traded, except as part of a regulated activity that ensures that their utilization is sustainable and in compliance with local, national and international law.
- We do not conduct visits to schools or kindergartens because this could harm the local community.
- Our customer marketing process is clear and straightforward. We provide comprehensive product information, including a sustainability statement, and deliver services strictly according to the contract and program.
The entire process will be monitored, and necessary decisions will be made to ensure the action plan is implemented correctly and promptly.
