The National Museum of Tajikistan, one of the oldest museums in Central Asia, was established back in 1934. Since then, its initial collection of 530 items has steadily grown and now includes over 50,000 exhibits, many of which are unique and priceless.
In March 2013, a vast and architecturally distinctive four-story museum complex was built in the center of Dushanbe, fully meeting modern international museum standards. The museum consists of 22 large and small exhibition halls, including sections dedicated to nature, antiquity and the Middle Ages, modern and contemporary history, as well as fine and applied arts. The museum also houses a scientific research department with divisions focused on written heritage, archaeology, and numismatics. An international cooperation department has been established to work with foreign institutions. In addition, the museum includes a collection storage department, an accounting unit, and a restoration department. The total exhibition space of the National Museum of Tajikistan is 15,000 square meters.еще...
