The grandiose Suvtushaar waterfall is located at an altitude of more than 2000 m above sea level in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan on the border of the Gissar reserve, 8 km. from the village of the same name Suvtushar and in 50 km from the regional center Shakhrisabz. The locals call it “milk waterfall.
The small river Suvtushar sawed through a small channel in the karst massif and “jumps” down with a spectacular waterfall, falling from a huge 30-meter cliff and then runs into the valley with small ledges. For some reason, local rangers call the height of the waterfall 80 m, but this is a controversial opinion, since the lower cascades do not look vertical. But if you measure the height from the top of the cliff to the horizontal section of the river, then this is probably the case.
The waterfall evokes a particularly bright and indelible impression in the spring during the abundant snowmelt of the Gissar Mountains. At this time, it can be compared in power with the Angren canyon waterfalls. At this time, the sound of the waterfall can be heard for several kilometers, and its sprays are carried for tens of meters.
The waterfall is extraordinarily beautiful in winter, when it freezes completely, forming bizarre ice cascades.
