Khiva is one of the oldest cities in the east, according to one legend, founded by Shem, the son of the biblical Noah. Khiva flourished in the 16th-18th centuries, when Khiva became the capital of the powerful Khanate of Khiva. The final appearance of the city was formed at the end of the 18th - beginning of the 19th centuries. The old part of Ichan-Kala, surrounded by a powerful high fortress wall, is an open-air museum. Ichan Kala is protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Administrative and religious buildings are lined with colored tiles with incredibly beautiful patterns. The excursion to Khiva will take the whole day, including two 1.5 hour flights by plane.
