Urgut is a small town and district center in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, located at the foot of the northern slope of the Zarafshan mountain range, 40 kilometers southeast of Samarkand. Tourists will undoubtedly find it fascinating to visit this provincial town and its surroundings.
You will explore the unique sacred grove of thousand-year-old plane trees at Chor-Chinor – possibly home to the oldest trees in all of Central Asia. Also of great interest is the largest bazaar in the Samarkand region. To this day, visitors can find antique carpets, handmade embroidery (suzani), leather shoes, jewelry, handcrafted metal art, ceramic dishes, and traditional wooden chests.
