Madigen Geopark is located in southern Kyrgyzstan, in the Batken region.
The geopark is home to unique geological and cultural heritage sites of international significance. Madigen is not only fascinating for geologists and paleontologists, but also for regular tourists who can admire the diverse geological phenomena and rare, picturesque landscapes.
For a couple of days, visitors can take a "time machine" journey through Mesozoic and Cenozoic landscapes. They can experience the scorching breath of the desert and the coolness of the glaciers of the Turkestan Range, explore the legendary ancient Kan-i-Gut cave-mine and ancient smelting furnaces. Tourists can also walk through the unique valleys and canyons with evocative names: Tenge-Sai, Sary-Too, Sphinx Valley, Unkur-Sai Valley, Mollusk Valley, Dinosaur Valley, Stone Rainbow Valley, Chalcedony Mountain, Stone Mushroom Valley, Aeolian Valley, Tamarisk Valley, and the "Stone Castles" Valley.
Additionally, visitors can observe the traditional way of life in colorful villages. Here, local women still weave the famous carpets by hand, craftsmen carve traditional "komuz" instruments from apricot wood, and the locals grow the renowned Batken rice and delicious apricots.
