The Tavaksay Waterfall Cascade is located in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, 60 km from Tashkent. It sits within the Tavaksay stream gorge in the foothills of the Karzhantau Range, very close to the border with Kazakhstan (6–8 km).
The cascade consists of several large and small waterfalls. The highest and most spectacular—offering the best panoramic photos—is the Upper Waterfall. It is situated in a horseshoe-shaped rocky "cirque" in the upper reaches of the river at an altitude of 1,200 m, plunging down from a 40-meter ledge.
Further downstream, you can find five more beautiful waterfalls with heights ranging from 3 to 20 meters.
Nature & Landscapes
Flora: In early spring (late March to April), the areas surrounding the upper waterfall are covered in fields of tulips, including the Kaufman and Lemmers varieties. You may occasionally spot the Greig’s tulip, which is listed in the Red Book.
Scenery: The location offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the orchards nestled in the valley.
How to Get There
Getting to the waterfalls is relatively straightforward:
By Foot: Take any transport to the village of Tavaksay, then follow a good trail for approximately 7 km. The trek involves an elevation gain of 450 m and takes about 3 hours to reach the furthest upper waterfall. The return trip is faster as the trail goes downhill.
By Off-Road Vehicle: For those who prefer not to hike the full distance, you can book a Jeep through us. The vehicle will take you to the end of the road in the gorge; from there, it is only a 1 km walk (150 m elevation gain, approx. 30 minutes) to reach the upper waterfall. Best time to visit: From mid-March to mid-May.
