Khujand is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, the second largest city in Tajikistan, located in the northern part of the country, on the Syr Darya River in the Fergana Valley. The city was founded by Alexander the Great about 2500 years ago and named Alexandria Eskhata (Far)
Currently, the city is a major industrial and cultural center of Tajikistan. Modern Khujand is a cozy, green city with many parks and squares, historical and cultural monuments.

- The ancient city bazaar Panjshanbe is one of the largest covered markets in Central Asia.
- Mosque and Mausoleum of Sheikh Muslihiddin. (XI-XII centuries)
- Museum of Archeology and Fortification.
- Arbob Palace is an original architectural complex (Tajik replica of the royal palace Peterhof in Russia), built by collective farmers
- Komola Khujandi Park;
