Chimtarga Peak (5,487 m), Energia Peak (5,120 m) Chimtarga Peak is the highest summit of the Fann Mountains, standing at an elevation of 5,487 meters above sea level. It is just slightly shorter than Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe (5,642 m).
The Fann Mountains, located in the northwest of Tajikistan, boast nine peaks exceeding 5,000 meters. Among them, Chimtarga Peak (5,487 m) and Energia Peak (5,120 m) are especially popular with tourists and mountaineers. They are like Siamese twins, joined at the "shoulders" of the Chimtarga Pass (4,750 m), perpetually gazing at each other.
Energia Peak is 367 meters lower than Chimtarga Peak. Its ascent is relatively easy, even for beginner climbers, but it requires basic skills in using mountaineering equipment on snow and ice slopes.
Climbing routes to the summit of Chimtarga range from category 2B to 6A in difficulty. The simplest route begins at the Mutnye Lakes, passes through the Praviy Zindon River Valley, and includes an overnight stay at Mirali Pass (5,060 m, 2B).
