It is difficult to overestimate the role of nature reserves, nature parks, nurseries for the conservation of flora and fauna of Uzbekistan. There is a fairly wide network of protected areas in Uzbekistan, covering many biocenoses and ecosystems.
There are 9 nature reserves in Uzbekistan:
2 National Nature Parks:
Republican Center for Breeding rare species of Animals (Jeyran Ecocenter).
12 state reserves (Dengizkul, Oktau, Kara-Kir, Arnasay, Saigachy, Sudochie, Mubarek, Karnabchul, Koshrabat, Nurabad, Kumsultan, Hadicha)
The total area of protected natural areas is 20,520 km2 (5% of the entire territory of Uzbekistan).
The nature of Uzbekistan is extremely diverse and is represented by the mountain systems of the Tien Shan and Hissar-Alai, steppes, the Kyzylkum desert, tugai and juniper forests.
The fauna of Uzbekistan includes more than 600 species of vertebrates, including 97 species of mammals, 424 species of birds, and 58 species of reptiles. The flora of Uzbekistan is represented by more than 4,100 species of higher plants. Some of the rare animals can also be observed in the Jeyran Ecocenter, Zerafshan, Nurata, Amudarya, Surkhandarya nature reserves. Work is underway here on the reproduction of rare animals: Severtsev's sheep, screw-horned goats (markhurs), gazelles (steppe antelope), Przewalski's horse, kulanov, bustard beauty.
Protected natural areas also serve as a natural base for scientific research and observations.
The natural beauty of nature reserves and national parks around the world attracts millions of ecotourists and nature lovers.
Unfortunately, in Uzbekistan, many magnificent corners of nature reserves are still inaccessible to tourists, but national parks are open to the public.
Asia Adventures organizes the following environmental and adventure tours and walks in national parks and some nature reserves:
