July 20th to August 20th (The short season is due to the special border regime in this area).
Hazrat Sultan is considered the most “sacred” mountain in Uzbekistan, located in the Hissar Mountains on the border of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The summit rises to 4,083 m above sea level. Thousands of pilgrims (men and women) from all over Uzbekistan and neighboring Tajikistan come here to pray and seek solutions to their problems. The complex legend of the mountain’s holy status dates back to religious disputes during the rise of Islam in the 7th century and is linked to the tragic fate of Hussein, son of Imam and Caliph Ali, cousin and companion of the Prophet Muhammad.
Beyond its mystical legend, tourists will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, alpine meadows, and crystal-clear rivers. The ascent is not technically difficult along a good trail, but it is challenging due to a 1,000 m elevation gain, high altitude (where mountain sickness may be felt), strong winds above 3,700 m, and possible rain, hail, or snow. During thunderstorms, lightning strikes pose a danger at the summit. Despite these challenges, the reward is stunning panoramic views of the surrounding ranges.
